little moments

I just wanted to stop in to recap some moments....

Thanksgiving always gives me a second to stop in my tracks and be thankful. More thankful than usual. For how blessed Jeff & I are. It's unbelievable. Sometimes I wonder what in the hello I did to deserve what I have.  THANKFUL

I realized that just because I say I will never eat again after Thanksgiving day, doesn't mean it will happen. I ended up eating just as much for three days. Helllllllo gym.

Speaking of gym, I swear our new puppy is making me lose 100 pounds. Chasing her all around, having races with her, and making sure she doesn't escape. Goodbye Thanksgiving 50.

Today our neighbor was outside and I said my usual hello and asked if he got a new tree (he was getting it out of the truck). I said we needed to get on that because we didn't even have our very first Christmas tree because we are slackers. And what do you know....he offered up his old one. And the tree? Is perfect. It even twinkles at me. THANKFUL

I got the sweeeeetest package in the mail today from our wedding photographer. It wasn't a picture though. It was a gift addressed to Piper. And it had a dog toy and dog treats inside. I about died. Nicest thing ever. Piper is loving being the princess. THANKFUL

Husband not only raked all of the leaves today, but also came home from the grocery store with TWO jars of okra. TWO. Holy cow I am so in love with that man. It's the little things. THANKFUL

ow owwww.

Piper got her first bath tonight. She rethought being our child for a moment. She smells so fresh and so clean clean now though.

I am so ready to be in the blogging mode again....maybe someday....maybe someday.

Right now I have two cuddle bugs to hang with though.

sorry I shall stop being an obsessive fur mom. but i just can't help itttt.

our Piper girl

My heart is just busting out of the seams right now.

On Friday, November 16th, we brought our first little black miniature schnauzer home. It took less than 5 seconds to fall entirely head over heels in love with her. I may be completely nuts, but the happiness she already brings us just brings me to tears (of joy). Okay yes, I am totally crazy.

Whoever thought that a little pup chasing around leaves, dragging water bottles around, and trying to eat momma's diamonds could be so entirely adorable and perfect?

Really, everything she does just makes me beam. And somehow she thinks my pony tail turns into a chew toy when it goes in a bun. Serious attack mode goes down.

She also got to experience her first KU game. Even though she wasn't the good luck charm we needed, she rocked it and was quite the trooper. Plus, she got to hang out with her grandma, gramps, and uncle. Of course she had fun.

Anyway, I know that this is simply a dog. A four legged animal. But to me, she is a part of our little family. And I am so dang thankful she is. We just love her to a million bazillion pieces.

Welcome to the family baby girl.

(Lord help us when we actually have children)

newest member of our family

So I've been waiting to make this announcement on the blog because I didn't want to jinx anything.

However, on November 16th (aka this FRIDAY) we will gain another member to our family. Obviously a baby cannot grow that fast so sorry, I am not pregnant.  Plus if you have me on instagram (mollyjs3) you caught the news last weekend.

We will be blessed to gain a little furry black miniature schnauzer who we are going to call Piper. Excitement is definitely the understatement of the century. I seriously feel crazy anxiety every time I think about it and am just so ready to hold the little thang.

We found out we were getting here last weekend and it may kill me to wait until Friday. Leaving that little face was definitely not easy. It did get me some time to get her a bed, a fleece blanket made, and some toys. Gotta make it perfect for the princess herself.

SO welcome to the S family Miss Piper Renee. Yes, she gets a middle name. She's that cool.

HAPPY SUNDAY!

xoxo

the WEDDING accessories (part 1)

Our wedding photos have by far been my favorite mail day in quite some time. I could hardly open that little brown box fast enough. And the stuffing, well that just got in the way.

I open it up to find the cutest ever CD cover paired with a thank you note. I don't know if she is psychic but the cover was perfect. Navy Chevron to match our wedding colors. I mean, reaaaally. Loved it. (Thank you SIMPLESPLENDORPHOTOGRAPHY)

Inside are about 5 bazillion photos that all make me beam of complete happiness. Inside the little CD's are all the people I love the very very most in my life. The people who have supported us continuously and have shown us more love than we could ever imagine. That CD, is one of my most prized positions.

Today I am going to start with the small wedding getup accessories and build up to the most memorable moments. However, I love the details and love that each piece of my "outfit" were carefully chosen and picked out with my mom. They bring so some sweet memories that I will always be able to hold quite dear.

Pardon me as I may be quite sappy throughout these picture overloads. My heart IS these pictures and these people. They are really all that I am. And complete me wholeheartedly.

Let the games begin.....shoes, garters, earrings, bracelet, rings.

Don't worry, I won't be posting ALL of the photos or we would be here all day.

Gosh they just make me SO HAPPY!!

four years

Four years ago on this very day I was living the life of an underage, wild college student.

I was watching my Jayhawks dominate our rivals, and went out with my roommate for a few celebratory drinks. That same roommate just had her first born child.

The difference four years can make.

That same night my world was flipped upside down. And I literally probably felt that way because I had one too many celebratory drinks.

That very night on November 1st just four years ago, I "officially" met my husband.

The difference four years makes.

It's crazy to think that only four years ago I had ever lived my life without him. Single. Night owl. And on my own schedule. How I lived without him, I'm not so sure.

I thank God so often for that night. That night that I decided to be brave with some liquid courage. That night that I got the phone number of the most handsome man in that place. The last night that I ever was alone living the life of a single gal. We were together from that night on.

And now on this November 1st, we are married. Three months in 3 days in fact. Time flies. And I couldn't be happier with the path we've been given. I can't wait to share a lifetime and a fun lifetime at that.

Trust me...I'd get that number again and again and again if I had to.  Best decision I made in college.

I'm so thankful for four years ago......

pumpkin carving + halloweenie

Carving pumpkins on Monday may or may not have been a bad idea.

Our pumpkins last night for Halloween were looking quite rough and shriveled. Poor hawks. I was impressed that you could still tell what they were when a little boy came running up to our house because there were Jayhawk pumpkins. Smart child. Five handfuls of a candy for you.

I was so excited to decorate our first Halloween pumpkins. Got the pumpkins early, got the supplies, ready.to.go. Until I actually started carving it. My patience was definitely unavailable that evening. I only had finished one eye and decided there was no way I could finish the whole face. Well, maybe 10 hours later.

I actually am pretty sure I moaned and groaned about how hard it was for a few good minutes. Until I got called a Bah-Hum-Bug. However that is spelled. So then I shut up and fought through the tiny little cuts and grooves. Until my sword broke aka the tiniest little blade in all of the land.

Then the big knife pictured in the picture above came into play. Jeff was scared for my life I'm pretty sure. All was good no cuts, blood, and a finished pumpkin was to see out them both. He is way way way more patient than myself and rocked his little pumpkins world.

Sadly these beautiful faces didn't stay perky for long. I walked outside the house on yesterday morning and saw their faces pretty much deteriorated. But hey, they looked dang good for a day!

We weren't quite the Halloweeners this year. I was literally dead from conferences all week and Jeff worked late so all we did was sit in our little lawn chairs in the front of the house and handed out candy for a few hours.

There was a moment where something like this happened....

(the food he was grilling was almost ready)
(there were about 6 pieces of candy left in the bowl)

Jeff: We need to turn our light off.
Me: We can just leave it on and just answer the doorbell.
Jeff: ........But I want some candy.

*A few minutes later the doorbell rings

Jeff: Ahhh man they took the reeses!

*light gets turned off*

With that being said. Here is what I woke up to. For some reason this was flipping hilarious to me. He got his candy and looks like he sure enjoyed it. Funny man he is.

And in the spirit of thinking we were having loads of children come up to our doorstep I finally got ourselves a new welcome mat. I.am.in.love. Target never ever ever ever disappoints. Ever.

I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!!!!
