i take it back

Dear Casino,

I'm really sorry that I talked so much smack on you last weekend when I came and visited you for the first time. I really didn't mean it when I said I didn't like you. I just get really sad when you take my money in the matter of seconds. That was kind of rude of you, actually. You know how we all say some things we don't mean? Yeah, that was totally the case when I said those mean things. I really do like you. And last night, you rocked my world. Yup, you did. Not only did you make strangers become friends, but you also let me take a part of you with me in the form of 32 dollars.  You are so kind. So sweet. So thanks for kicking ace and taking names. I really enjoyed you last night. So did Jeff as you gave him 300 dollars. It's safe to say I now hold a small place in my heart for you.

See you on the flip side.

xoxo,

Molly

getting fit for lent

Annnnnd I'm back.

This week has been buck wild and I haven't had much time to post but I thought I'd pop in to chat about my week of getting healthy & fit.

It all started with the not so fun grocery visit....

First things first, if you don't have the fooducate app for the iphone stop what you are doing and GET IT NOW!

It assisted me throughout my entire grocery visit and is making eating healthy a whole lot easier. On some items at the grocery store I really don't know good or bad they are for me and usually got lost on the back labels. This app allows you to scan your food and it gives it a grade of how healthy it is. So cool!

It also tells you if it gets a bad grade, why it got that grade and what it has in it. Boom Shaka Laka. Everything you see above is a B or above. If I scanned a food and it was a C,  back it went.

And this is how my meals went..roughly:

As you can see there are a few slip ups going on. However, for the most part I only put good things into my body and ate my vitamin gummies every.single.day. They really do make a difference! Also, I few times I caught myself turning time cupcakes, cookies, and other goodies that they were giving away at school. Score.

As for the workouts. Well, we can go ahead and all laugh together. I felt like I didn't have a spare second in my nights but on Monday I did manage to do this. Ouch is all I've got to say.

Even though I didn't do an "organized" workout every night this week, I am making a conscious effort while teaching to walk around the classroom and never sit down. This would equal about 7 hours of walking people. So I guess doing small things like that are helping me reach my goals!

After trying on my wedding dress {eeeek} I am more motivated to get that baby toned! Me, not my dress.

And somehow Jeff's scale says I lost 5 lbs but I think it's full of poo. I just don't know how that is physically possible. But hey, I'll roll with it.

Check out my girl's site to see how her 40 day challenge is going! And please leave your link in a comment if you are joining along! I need all the motivation I can get y'all!

HAPPY WEEKEND, loves!

it's so pinteresting

We are half way through people, half way through!

I'm linking up with Michelle to talk about one of my biggest obsessions, PINTEREST.

And since I am 167.23% overwhelmed with school right now I thought I'd make it short and sweet and show you a few things I've been loving on pinterest I've found as I'm trying to distract myself from school and lesson planning.

My heaven on Earth.

I'll take it all!

Workout I did last night....much harder than you think! {or maybe just for me!}

Truth

Heck yes!

I'm super obsessed with closet offices!

& last but not least....we can't forget about that baby I don't have!

Too funny.

Hope you all have a happy hump day & you can find me on pinterest here!

impact

Impact.

A small word with such great meaning.
I've been thinking a lot lately about impacts. What they are, what they do, how much strength they have.

I've noticed that small impacts really can change the world. Some impacts are very positive, while some the opposite.

I have seen the smallest impacts change people. All it takes is an effort. I've seen the impact of such small, small gestures on others. How a small card, a sweet note, and even a smile can change someones day and even perspective.
Can you imagine if every day we all made one even tiny impact on someone else, how much better this crazy place would be?

Whether it's opening a door, saying hey to a stranger, telling someone how much they mean to you, and even just simply listening to someone.

It can be world changing. It just boggles my mind sometimes.

All it takes is us. You. Me. And everyone else you know.

So why not?! I mean....what do we have to lose? All I do know is we have so dang much to gain.

Let's be the inspiration

the weekend the casino showed me who's boss

And that it did. I had never been to a casino before this weekend. I guess I've never really desired to go somewhere just to flush my money down the toilet. However, I always did wonder "what if" I went and won. I would pee myself most definitely. But then I remembered I was the most unlucky person on planet Earth.

So this weekend my family and myself went to where Jeff lives to watch little brother sing at state {which by the way was uh.maz.ing}.

Every day I wonder where in the world his voice came from and why I didn't get it. I would show you proof I didn't get it but then you'd probably never come back. I'm so proud of him though and he totally deserved that beaut of a medal he is wearing! {He made state every year!}

So we went to the casino Friday night after a few glasses of wine and Jeff's homemade tongue on fire stir fry. When I walked in it was definitely what I expected. People everywhere. No seats. Straight craziness. What I wasn't prepared for is what was about to happen to me.

Scene I:

Me: I'm playing the penny machines! Where are the penny machines?!

I find the penny machines and two open seats for Jeff & I.

I put my 20 dollars in and hope for the best.

I click on random buttons that I have no idea what they do and I watch my money go down down down in the matter of seconds. #$!%. Is that even physically possible? Yeah it is in a casino I guess.

Seriously, I think it took me a whole 2 minutes to lose 20 dollars. BOOM. gone.

I was done. I evil eyed the machine and told it THANK YOU for the .18 cents.

Scene 2:

Dad: How's it going over here?!

Me: I hate the casino. I just lost 20 dollars in 2 seconds.

Dad: Here let me try it.

In the matter of minutes Dad wins $45.

Really?! Really. That happened. Oh and then two seconds later the lady next to us won 300 dollars. THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS. And I won .18 cents. It was a pretty BS moment. However, they provided pop so I made sure to drink my 20 dollars worth I had just lost.

We all ended coming out 20 dollars under, which I say wasn't too bad in the book of gambling. It was a lot of fun and next time I'm definitely either going to just watch or save my change and be prepared to lose.

I must add another key event of the weekend.

My JAYHAWKS whooped up on our college rivals for the best victory in college basketball I've ever seen. However, my heart is steal recovering. If you follow me on twitter I'm sure you were cursing me in your head. My apologizes.

I wish I could repeat weekends like this one because I loved every little second of spending so much time with my family and Jeff.

Let's get this week started off RIGHT!

getting fit for lent

It's Friday and I think we all deserve a drink! I definitely need one. This has seriously been the longest week ever. Lucky for me, I get to spend the entire weekend with my crew. The whole crew.

Now for some lent updates. First of all I've got to tell you I never realized until Wednesday how flipping hard it was to not eat meat. Like, impossible. I felt like I starved myself all day long. Really? I really need to branch out of my foods! Obviously.

Anyway, so the get fit for lent is only heading into day 3 so I don't really have much to say. I can show you my groceries for the week and some staples I use/will be using during lent! As the weeks go by I'll post healthy recipes I like, healthy food that tastes super amazing, and how I am dedicating all of this to Him! I mean, that is the point of it all right?

Here my groceries from this week. Oh, and keep in mind...I'm on a tight budget so I can't get too crazy.  I keep it simple, yo.

Also keep in mind this was for like three days, and I already had sandwich thins and turkey at home.

For breakfast:

I usually have a Greek yogurt with granola or plain. Fast + Easy = Molly Style. I also like to eat a rice cake with pb and a sliced banana on top. Yummmmy. I tried overnight oats a few weeks back and totally failed. I will try again and see if I can get it taste like something better than cardboard.

For a snack:

I rock the almonds and usually a banana. Most of the time I am starving 10 seconds later so...looks like I need to think of some more :)

For lunch:

My lunch usually consists of a sandwich {turkey} plus a veggie and fruit. When I have them, I add a cheese stick to the mix too! By the way, check out this website for some AWESOME and healthy lunch ideas. I found this last night and am obsessed. You bet they hooked me on their containers. I'm too easy.

For dinner:

Well it's always a mystery. Lately I just have skipped it. Bad bad and more bad. That is one thing I hope to improve on during this time, making wholesome, healthy, and delicious dinners.

I cut my diet coke down to half a can a day {Because seriously let's get real...I can't just cold turkey give it up while using it to get me through the day with 10 and unders}

I heard vitamins are where it's at so I picked up these bad boys. I can't lie, I want to eat the entire container they are so darn good! I will let you know how I think they are helping/not helping. I am feeling more energetic but that could also be from eating healthier foods too.

So anyway, the point is I like to keep it simple and do what is easiest and works best for me. When I have my own place and own kitchen I know this will be way easier and I will be whipping up all sorts of concoctions. I like to think so, that is.

So join my best Lindsey & I through these 40 days of dedicating our health to God and feeling great! If y'all want we can always do a link up so we can motivate each other.

Either way HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!

Cheers. Or chugs. Whichever.
