Makeover Monday {4}

And...it's Monday again. Seriously could the weekend go by any faster? I honestly do not even think so.

One good thing about Monday is Makeover Monday with myself & Katie. The link-up where you all give the best tips to be all sorts of beautiful!

This week's topic is Blush, Bronzer, or any other "accents" you use!

When it comes to accents I think they just give the face just a little more umph. They add a little something something to bring out certain facial features so they get some love too.

{1} Blush

The blush I have been using for years is Cover Girl classic color. It's just the perfect color on my little white face to give a little glow to my cheeks. Let me tell you my face def. needs some color!

{2} Shimmer Facial Whip

I was introduced to this amazing little bottle a few months ago when I won a giveaway from the Bargain Blonde. {From E.L.F.}Shimmering Facial Whip is a multipurpose, on-the-go whipped highlighter packed with Vitamin E to instantly brighten and soothe skin with no greasy after-feel. Ideal for using on your cheeks, lips, eyelids or anywhere you would like a radiant pop of shimmering color.

Even though I only use it for my cheeks I think it gives it the perfect pop of sparkle when I dress up and am trying to look fancy schmancy {or for daily use!}.
{3} E.L.F. Total Face Brush

I use this brush for my bronzer {which I posted last week-oops} but I also use it for my  bronzer. This may be good or bad but I think it works just dandy for both! I'll all about dual purpose products over here. 2 in 1 I'm all in!

{4} Mary Kay Signature Blush Brush

I've used this brush for blush for the past two years and am not sure I could use anything else now. I love how it puts my blush on and most importantly they brussels never fall out! Amazing!

These may not be the fancy of the fanciest things but they work for me! I can't wait to see what y'all use and more tips and tricks!

So come join the fun and show your favorite products!!

product of the week

Linking up for the first time with Aly & Tiffanie for Product of the Week!

One product-ish I don't really think I could live without is....

My Erin Condren Planner. Yup, definitely think I would disappear off this earth without it. Okay maybe not but my brain probably would!

I seriously forget everything. I literally have to write every single little detail of my life out so I don't forget it. I'm pretty good at birthdays though I must say.

{this is the one I bought...only with Molly Renee on it}

My Erin Condren Planner definitely is one of the things I use the very most in life other than my phone and those other essentials. Plus it makes me smile so it's really a win-win-win stituation.

Would I spend $50 on the planner normally? Probably not. Maybe if I had like two bottles of wine first would I ever spend that. However, I got mine for a steal of a deal on Plum District awhile back {Nov. to be exact}.

I love this product because....

-It is COLORFUL, which makes me happy.
-It's personalized. It's MINE.
-It has such an organized and clean look to it. Snazzy. Plus the card stock is amazing!
-It has a place for notes, goals, to do's, and even a little zipper thingy for...whatever!
-The tabs make it so easy to go from month to month.
-It keeps me organized so I remember all of the important events and things I need to get done!

Now I'm going to give it a big kiss.

Kidding, but if you don't have one I know for a fact you won't be disappointed if you buy one. Which, btw,  you totally should.

What are YOUR favorite products?!

one year blogoversary

I am ashamed to admit that my one year "blogoversary" was this past Saturday. Bad mom over here.

I planned on posting and scheduling but...well obviously that didn't work out so well did it?

However, I felt it was necessary to give my blog a shout out because it really has been a surprise blessing to me in a variety of ways. I feel like I've learn so much about myself through this little space and I can't be thankful enough for that.

When I first started blogging I just blogged about cute ideas I found and wanted to remember. Then pinterest was invented so I didn't really need to do that anymore. I then got a whole new blog and began just writing about my life because I seriously have the worst memory in the world and wanted to remember them all {the good, the bad, the ugly}.

better use Picnik up since it's leaving me!

I just want to take a second to thank you all, each and every single one of you who read my ramblings, comment, and are in some way a part of my life here on A Midwestern Touch.

I really never even thought about followers when I got my blog. To be honest I had no idea what the hell it even meant. I'm not going to lie when I saw that it was possible for people to comment and got my first comment, I flipping jumped out of my seat. Now I feel like I can call many of you my friends.

So thank you to my new followers, as well as my followers who have been here since the beginning {you know who you are}.  Especially my family & Jeff who are always supporting me in this little hobby of mine. I'm so happy to be here & can't wait to see what the next year brings. I love sharing a little piece of my life with you and I hope my appreciation for you all doesn't go unnoticed.

So thanks A Midwestern Touch for giving me a little something to look forward to each day.

engagement weekend

I just wanted  to thank you all for such sweet words yesterday about my new blog layout! Y'all rock my socks off.

So as a lot of you all know Jeff & I went on an Engagement Encounter this past weekend that lasted from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. The weekend was technology free and actually kind of rocked!

Even though this was a requirement for our church, I am so glad we went. Not going to lie I was pretty flipping nervous at first.  Oh and good news... my roommate was normal, actually really nice and did not kidnap me. Score. The whole purpose of the weekend was to prepare us for marriage and as they say "A wedding is one day, a marriage is a lifetime." So we learned tools to help us have a good marriage and defeat those crazy 50% divorce rate stats. Booya.

A few {of many} things I learned....

Communication is the very most important thing in a relationship
{other than love, of course}
I swear I learned more things in the past weekend than I have like my whole life. Okay maybe thats an exaggeration but hearing real stories from one certain couple that had been married 49 years pretty much made my life. Get this, the lady {Polly} gave her husband {Pat} a love coupon book not too long ago & one coupon was for a hickie anywhere on the body. So great.

Jeff & I have opposite personalities but all the same values, goals & interests
We took those extra fun personality type "get to know yourself" quizzes and we scored totally opposite. Well in the aspect of things like "more reserved" more "authority" and all that jazz. I was kind of surprised but it was 500% on the money about how our personalities were. Pretty much Jeff needs patience & I need to stop being scared of change. haha. True dat.

My love language is Words of Affirmation & Physical Touch
We also watched part of the Five Love Languages video which I totally loved. It really is inspiring and very relatable if you ever get the urge to read the book or watch the video. It makes so much sense it's a little scary. My love tank is all sorts of full today!  Funny thing was the couple who was speaking told us that it was really rare for a couple to ever have the same love language and what do you know....Jeff & I's were exactly the same.

Not having technology for a whole weekend was a blessing in disguise
It also felt "freeing". Nothing to worry about but each other. No e-mails to respond to, no lessons to plan, no nothing. You don't realize how much technology affects how you spend time with someone until it's not there. It was nice to not be sitting next to each other doing something on our phones, but rather just enjoying each others company distraction free. I would def. recommend it. Seriously though.

God is good. Really good.
And I'm pretty darn thankful to be a child of God. I thank him multiple times a day for all he has given me. I really feel blessed to be surrounded with so much love, and even from you all. It's good stuff I tell ya, good stuff. Maybe someday I'll write about my rocky journey in this topic but I couldn't be more happy to be exactly where I am and have Him to thank for it all.

face lift & makeover monday {3}

First things first....does something look a little different around these parts?!
I hope so because my blog got a face lift and I am in flipping love with my new blog design. I mean, in love.

Meg, the pretty lady who blogs at O is Me did this crazy talented work and I can't thank her enough!
She seriously is so so great to work with and made it so my blog all around screamed "Molly". She took every detail into consideration in making it exactly how I had pictured and more. How she does all that...I will never know and it would quite frankly probably hurt my brain too much to even try.

So if you don't know Meg you should definitely go check out her precious blog along with her new beautiful baby girl!

Thanks again Meg, you are fab.u.lous!!

Now for Makeover Monday!

If you missed the past two weeks the topics were skin care & hair care.

This week we are getting all sorts of crazy and linking up for some foundation {and all the bells & whistles included with it...primer, concealer, whateva}.

I am going to admit I am not an expert in this category. This one I really do minimal work on and hope all  of your link-ups will help me out in this little problem I've got.

My daily routine of make-up is pretty simple & straight forward. I don't have the money or knowledge right now to buy expensive products or test out different types to make me looks all sorts of amazing right now. I do have one foundation I have caught myself going back to over the years though.

My Favorite Foundation {thus far}:

Clinique Superbalanced Makeup in Ivory

This is probably as expensive as it gets for me in the makeup department until I can afford to try out other products. However, I love this foundation and think that it covers well, feels light, and doesn't look like I gobbed makeup all over my face.  I call that a win-win in my book of foundation.

I always always have to use a bronzer because I'm white. Like, really white people. Do I care? Not really. I'm going to try & be one hot mama when I'm 80. Ha ha. Okay maybe I really wish I was tan but that's beside the point.

I haven't found a "to die for" bronzer but what I currently use is the e.l.f sunkissed bronzer & it does the job for me. If you haven't used e.l.f products I would definitely recommend it as I've seen great quality with an even better price!

Two things I'd really like to purchase in the near future are a good primer {any recommendations?} and concealer {have tried many but never loved any} so that I can stay fresh as a daisy all day long without looking like a dead woman by 3:00.

Hopefully I get some helpful hints from you all & I can be looking better in no time!

Thanks for stopping by and I can't wait to share with you all the things my fiance & I learned this past weekend at our Engagement Encounter weekend "retreat"...thingy.

HAPPY MONDAY!

engagement encounter

As I'm sitting here not being able to sleep and just got done FaceTiming with Jeff {which, btw, is the COOLEST invention of all time-other than when I see him focusing on other things like uhhhh espn} I figured I'd share with you what Jeff and myself would be doing this weekend.

A little background here. Jeff & I are getting married in my hometown church. The church I grew up going to not only every Sunday but at one point in time every single day or at least twice a week. I am Catholic and went to a private catholic school for nine years. Once upon a time we were required to wear the most hideous uniforms and kicked total butt in all sports, 15-0 baby! That church is a very, very big part of me and honestly I couldn't imagine getting married in any other church.

As a requirement per say to get married there we have to attend an engagement encounter.

What's that?! Yeah I was wondering the saaaaaaaaammmmme thing.

Here is what the e-mail I got today said:

"The Engaged Encounter weekend is designed to help couples develop a more meaningful relationship centered on your love for each other. Your love for one another will be stronger, deeper, and more enduring when it is rooted in the One who is the source of all love. This weekend will assist you in gaining a fuller sense for the sanctity of the Marriage Sacrament"

I'm kind of nervous about the whole deal {mostly getting some roommate I don't know} but I think it is going to be pretty cool for us to get to know each other on another level. Deeper level, and more personal level. I'm going to try to go in with an open mind and hope I don't come out running ;)

Also, we aren't supposed to have any technology over the weekend so I probably will be no where near cyber land for quite some time. I hope I survive without you all. And how am I supposed to go a whole weekend without talking to my mom?! haha.

Anyway, I hope it all goes well and if I disappear it's because my roommate kidnapped me. I hope y'all have a great FRIDAY!

p to the s..these are just a few "not so serious" pictures that never made the cut when I posted engagement pictures. makes me giggle. {yes...giggle}
